Penfolds Koonunga Cabernet/Merlot 2005
A little sharp on the palate. Not terribly smooth - disappointing compared to expectations.
Similar to other recently opened from the same batch. Allowed wine to breathe in the glass for about 20 minutes, after which typical solid characteristics of this wine appeared. Very much a regular table wine - not one to bring out at special occasions. Will keep some for a few years to review, as I've only ever considered this wine as a drink now.
Pedestrian, but always dependable with pizza.
Improving with age. Now a reasonably attractive quaffer.

Dark maroon core out to slightly lighter rim. Fresh aromas of blackberry, raspberry and black cherry with subtle notes of spice. Soft and supple, this medium-bodied red features ripe, dark fruit flavors that are enhanced by coffee and chocolate notes... John Perry.
