Penfolds Hyland 2005
Editorial Reviews for Penfolds Hyland
Classic tones of pepper, vanilla and some woodsy tones frame the slightly jammy blackberry and plum tones. In the mouth the big, rich wild berry fruits on entry are joined by spice and meaty tones across the midpalate. Finishes with a great spicy accent and a return of the oak driven woodsy tones. A fine Shiraz that offers up great fruit without going over the top either with ripeness or the oak treatment. Solid stuff 2009-2015
Peppery with backdrop of cherry. Pairs well with slopeside dining at beaver creek.
Deep purple, fruit forward and mildly tannic. For less than $10, it is perfect for midweek quaffing with whatever you put in the crock pot.

Wine Tasting NotesVibrant rich red. Lifted and aromatic, the nose is perfumed and inviting! Varietal spices (cinnamon) court assertive, youthful Shiraz fruits. An instantly appealing, alluringly drinkable wine. Excellent fruit quality, balance and tannin ripeness will ensure the palate remains intact for some time. While oak plays a supportive role, fruit, acidity and tannins command the lead. Another pleasing effort from the vintage!
