- ($80) Saturated, opaque ruby. Exotic, flamboyant aromas of kirsch, cassis, coconutty oak, chocolate and candied mint; the mint note builds with air but does not turn green. Large-scaled, fat and viscous in the mouth, displaying powerful, densely concentrated flavors of ripe cherry, blackcurrant, mocha, gingerbread and fruitcake, plus a wallop of bourbony, toasty oak. Sweet and long on the finish, with completely absorbed tannins. This became richer and thicker with air and may be the best example of a Bin 707 I've ever tasted.

Full bodied and with good cellaring potential, Bin 707 has a secure place among the ranks of Australia's finest cabernets. The 2002 Penfolds Bin 707 is quite possibly in the league of the 1990 and 1996 releases...one to watch!
