Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Tasting Notes Wine Tasting Notes Radiant, deep, dark red. There is no second guessing the variety here - pure Cabernet fruit aromas abound! Notes of beetroot, capsicum and blackcurrant leap from the glass, and with air, sarsaparilla. Oak is barely perceptible, yet sits confidently in the background. Firm, complex and ripe, Cabernet fruits are framed and complexed by notes of soy and freshly tanned leather. The 2005 Bin 407 is a balanced wine with a substantial mid-palate - impressively so for a 100% Cabernet offering. Interwoven French and American oak artefacts of vanillin, cedar and lemon complete the offering.

Penfold's dark, chewy Cab displays extraordinary ripe fruit with a hint of the grape's firm tannins.
COLOUR: Dense crimson red. NOSE: Ripe, concentrated and varietal. To the fore - dark fruits laced with bay-leaf, camphor, cinnamon and kalamata olive. Less obtrusively - subtle leather & polish, nutmeal and a modicum of oak.PALATE: Redolent of a dark blackcurrant/prune jus over a sticky date or Christmas pudding, yet retaining a somewhat savoury juiciness. A beguiling texture - south-east chalk, sea-mineral (wet-stone) gravely tannins and integrated oak -conspiring to create a dense, muscular weave. No mint , no leafiness - simply full-throttle, amply-flavoured dark Cabernet, replete with a cassis thumb-print.
Im Gaumen entfaltet er Aromen von dunklen Steinfrüchten, Mocca und dunkler Schokolade, im Hintergrund begleiten Noten von dunklen Oliven und teeriger Eiche zu einem lang anhaltenden Abgang.
