Very smooth, only slightly tannic, fruity, drinkable, not dry.

Some interesting notes of berry fruit, spice, pepper, and a hint of leather on the nose. Tasting the wine, the flavors could not seem to ever fully tie themselves together. The fruit and spice flavors were enjoyable but something is holding this wine back from being a great wine. A good wine, but there are plenty of Rhone wines using the same grapes yielding better results, and at a lesser price.

I tasted this wine with my wine group. There was a peppery smell on the nose, in addition to dark cherry. There were the same tastes on the palate, but not a lot of depth or complexity. The wine tastes a bit young, with the two grapes not quite integrated and the tannins a bit sharp. If you drink it now, pair it with red meat that has some tang to it, like when grilled or spiced with some pepper. If you have an instant aerator, use it to open up the wine. The better choice, I think, would be to put it in the cellar for 1-2 years.

Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 Bin 2 Shiraz Mourvedre has aromas of blackberry conserve and blueberry pie with hints of warm plums and baking spices. Medium-full bodied with crisp acid as well as some grainy tannins, it finishes with lingering warm berry notes. Drinking now, it should remain good through 2017+.

14 months in new American oak. TA 6.6 g/l pH 3.62. Super smooth beautiful poise. Subtle oak integration. Light spiciness. Faultlessly drinkable so appealing. It s sort of the antithesis of natural wine really controlled and with a shiny sheen. That s not a criticism but I could understand if some people thought it too normal . 17/20 (RH) Jancis Robinson.
