Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Advocate Review Rated 90 The outstanding 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby/purple color with notes of black currants, earth, and spice. This relatively deep wine shows soft acids and loads of fruit in a style that will certainly win it many fans. Drink it over the next 7-10 years.

The outstanding 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby/purple color with notes of black currants, earth, and spice. This relatively deep wine shows soft acids and loads of fruit in a style that will certainly win it many fans. Drink it over the next 7-10 years. Youthful purple. Powerfully scented bouquet combines cassis, boysenberry, candied plum, anise and dark chocolate. Plush dark berry preserve flavors are softly framed by smooth-grained tannins, picking up more tangy redcurrant and cherry skin notes with air. A lush, inviting style of cabernet thats delicious right now. ** SOLD OUT **

Wine & Spirits ReviewRated 93Pelton House is a new brand from the benchlands of the Jackson family's Knight's Valley vineyard; it's made by Marcia Monahan, a Chilean who planted carmenre in the hills to blend into this cabernet (6.9 percent). Rich in tone, this melds cool eucalyptus, green herb and cherry flavors into firm, iron-edged tannins, as if to inject juiciness into their texture. It's as supple as velvet.Stephen's Tanzer's International Wine Cellar ReviewRated 91(84% cabernet sauvignon, 9% merlot and 7% carmenere) Dark violet. Ripe cherry, cassis and licorice aromas display excellent depth and energy. Smooth and velvety, with succulent dark fruit flavors, supple tannins and gentle herb and underbrush accents. Finishes ripe but with impressive freshness and clarity. Plenty seductive now but I'd bet on this improving with a few years in the cellar. Monahan, who was raised in Chile, reports that the wild turkeys that roam the Pelton House vineyards have a particular affinity for carmenere. "It's like having a harvest machine," she marveled.
