Peltier Station hy.brid Pinot Noir 2009

Member Review by vin0vin0:

Highly mediocre Pinot from Lodi. Sour cherry, some metallic after taste and a bit of that old baseball card bubble gum flavor on the entry. There may be a good reason this was in the bargain bin.

The Schatz family has been growing grapes in the Lodi Appellation since the 1950's.  They purchased a special vineyard where the winery is now located which is lined by a historic railroad spur where three packing shed were once located.  In the early 1900’s these packing sheds were common stops for locomotives to load the famous Lodi grapes and ship them to wineries and home winemakers throughout the nation.  Thus, the label Peltier Station emerged in honor of the local history and abounding railroads that helped build California. Passion for growing grapes evolved into passion for creating great wines and many were crafted from the twelve varietals that are grown in their vineyards. The family’s Italian heritage also brought two unique wines that we share, Teroldego and Vermentino.     Farming “green” has always been a part of the Schatz mission and all of their vineyards are a part of the “Lodi Rules for Sustainable Wine Growing Program.”  This is a third party certification program that was created by scientists, academics and vintners and known to be the most recognized in the industry covering all facets of land stewardship.  Our mission is to produce outstanding wines by nurturing our vineyards in bringing forth the unique essence and full expression of the vines thus creating wines to enjoy from our place to yours.  Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

With a garnet ruby appearance and an extraordinary bouquet of flowers, this 2008 hy.brid pinot noir displays intense black cherry flavors with juicy plum undertones. Medium body tannins finish into a savory cherry chocolate liqueur.
