User Reviews for Pellegrini Family Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Lake County Leveroni

Winemaker's Notes:

Lake County has emerged as a viticultural area that is especially well suited to growing Sauvignon Blanc. Over the years, we have seen some lovely examples of wine made from this variety, the best of which can easily be compared to those from New Zealand and France's Loire Valley. In this, our fourth vintage making wine with Leveroni fruit, we believe we have come to understand how to work with the vineyard in terms of canopy management and when to harvest. Our winemaking protocol has been tailored to achieve a particular of Sauvignon Blanc that exhibits a higher degree of fragrance, brisk acidity, and delicate fruit. This means picking early enough that flavors are fresh and lively, whole cluster pressing, stainless steel fermentation, no oak, and early bottling. Fresh and lively, the 2006 Pellegrini Sauvignon Blanc - Leveroni Vineyard exhibits fresh cut hay and citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon on the nose and great balance, acidity, and juiciness for a long lingering finish on the palate. Round and versatile, this wine would make a delicious aperitif and also pair nicely with lighter fare, such as grilled prawns, linguine and clams, or goat cheese and vegetable pizzettas.
