Peirano State Lodi Chardonnay 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

"Grown on our estate in the heart of the Lodi Appellation, the fruit for this Chardonnay was hand selected and hand harvested. Careful attention was taken in the vineyard, through canopy management, such as leaf pulling, as well as cluster thinning to prompt the vine to focus its attention on the remaining clusters. We employ a dual harvest technique with the Chardonnay. Half of the block is harvested in mid to late August, when the fruit still has firm acids. The other half is picked from 3-4 weeks later, when the grapes are bursting with sugars. The aromas of vanilla, lemon meringue pie, and tangerines are complemented by hints of buttery notes entice a sip. The mouth fills with tropical fruit, homemade lemon pie and vanilla, which round out the wine and leave a lingering finish." -Winery

Lightly nutty on the nose with some almond and vanilla wood tones giving this a creamy aroma. A little soft on entry with a touch of rs lending this a particularly creamy mouthfeel supported by good acidity. This is nutty on the palate as well with an almond ice cream accent to the core of apple fruit that is round and simple in a fruity style. The touch of RS is washed away on the finish by the fresh acidity. Not my style but well made. 84pts
