Peirano Estate Merlot Lodi Six Clones Merlot Other California 2007
Once we have received the fruit at the winery, we keep each varietal separate through the entire fermentation and aging process, so each grape can fully express its true character. We then make several blends and sample each one until we have found one that is greater than the sum of its parts. The 2006 blend consists of 65% Chardonnay, 25% Sauvignon Blanc, and 10% each Viognier. We found this blend to be the best expression of our little corner of the Lodi Appellation.
Nestled between the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Lodi has an ideal Mediterranean climate with deep, rich, sandy-loam soils and abundant quality water. Lance Randolph, fourth generation Peirano, winemaker, and grower uses the best of Giacomo Peirano’s, Lance’s great grandfather, farming methods and implements new techniques to create the best of “Old World Meets New World” viticulture practices.
60% Cabernet Sauvignon/30% Merlot/10% Syrah. Smoky, dry berry scent. Spicy and dry, with a cherry/plum finish.
Medium body with a very interesting flavor profile. Cab, Merlot and Syrah blend with nice smoke and spice. Great bottle for the price.
Sweet berry fruit and low tannins. An approachable, everyday red.
