User Reviews for Pedroncelli Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Mother Clone
Add your reviewNice garnet color. Alcohol comes through a bit too much on the nose but mellows out with a little time (let it breathe for about 15 minutes). Some black licorice and spice on the nose. Notes of black cherry and cassis on the palate and a nice peppery finish. It seems to lack that "kick" that the flavors indicate that it should have (I'm talking mouthfeel and flavor profile, not alcohol content). All in all not bad, but not particularly great either. This is something I might crack open when I'm grilling (to drink when I'm actually cooking). Decent stuff. Three glass rating.
Winemaker's Notes:
Deep purple-red in color, our Mother Clone Zinfandel is full bodied and intense with classic Dry Creek Valley characteristics: aromas of ripe blackberry and spice, jammy fruit flavors framed with subtle black pepper. This is a concentrated wine that offers a great balance of fruit, spice and tannin combined with a long, lush finish. Enjoy now or cellar for three more years.
