Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel Dcv 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Deep purple-red in color, this is a full-bodied wine with many classic Dry Creek Valley characteristics: aromas and flavors of ripe boysenberry, jammy with subtle coffee and butterscotch accents. This is a concentrated Zinfandel that offers a nice balance of fruit, spice and tannin. The finish is long and packed with flavor.

Since 1927, when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased vineyard and a small winery in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley, two elements remain unchanged: the exceptional place the Pedroncelli family farms vineyards, and the family's dedication to making fine wines. John Pedroncelli began his winemaking career as a child working side by side with his father, John Sr. learning from the ground up. After World War II and his service in the US Coast Guard, he graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College and then attended many winemaking classes at University of California at Davis. John’s style is Pedroncelli’s style—wines that are flavorful and balanced to reflect the region’s characteristics—he allows the wines to speak for themselves. As a family winery who has farmed for 80 years in the Dry Creek Valley, we want the next generations to be able to continue farming in an environmentally sensitive way. The most important statement we can make about our wine is that we are here for the long term and protecting the environment is one way we will achieve that goal. At Pedroncelli Winery, we practice sustainable winegrowing and, over the years, we have been reducing water use, building healthy soil, and protecting the vineyard environment. This is a comprehensive approach to vineyard management that involves all aspects of farming including human resources, viticulture, soil management, water management, pest management, habitat management, and wine quality. Big and chewy. This is really a good value for a Dry Creek zin. Lots of berry and spice flavors. Takes about an hour to open up.
