Pedroncelli Chardonnay Dry Creek Valley F. Johnson Vineyard 1987
Winemaker's Notes:
Varietals: 98% Chardonnay, 1% Muscat, 1% Gewurztraminer
Appellation: Mendocino County
Alcohol: 13.2% by volume
Oak Program: Heavy Forged New French Steel (all joking aside, no oak)
Tasting Notes: “Refreshing,” “crisp,” and “fruity” are the perfect words for this non-typical California Chardonnay. Loads of tropical fruit aromas and flavors. No oak. Only 14% malolactic. Did we mention no oak? Great with seafood or any light summer dish, or for sipping beside your own island lagoon . . . that is, of course, presuming that you have your own island lagoon, in which case we’ll bring the wine.

Since 1927, when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased vineyard and a small winery in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley, two elements remain unchanged: the exceptional place the Pedroncelli family farms vineyards, and the family's dedication to making fine wines.
John Pedroncelli began his winemaking career as a child working side by side with his father, John Sr. learning from the ground up. After World War II and his service in the US Coast Guard, he graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College and then attended many winemaking classes at University of California at Davis. John’s style is Pedroncelli’s style—wines that are flavorful and balanced to reflect the region’s characteristics—he allows the wines to speak for themselves.
As a family winery who has farmed for 80 years in the Dry Creek Valley, we want the next generations to be able to continue farming in an environmentally sensitive way. The most important statement we can make about our wine is that we are here for the long term and protecting the environment is one way we will achieve that goal.
At Pedroncelli Winery, we practice sustainable winegrowing and, over the years, we have been reducing water use, building healthy soil, and protecting the vineyard environment. This is a comprehensive approach to vineyard management that involves all aspects of farming including human resources, viticulture, soil management, water management, pest management, habitat management, and wine quality.
