Pedroncelli Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley Morris Fay Vineyard 2008

A solid choice for any Cabernet drinker, it has a lot of ripe berry flavors combining for a gentle flavor. It is not too acidic, however it is not a small wine. The wine is aged in oak and thus has received a perfect amount of woodiness from the aging process. Nothing in this wine is overpowering.

Bright red-purple. Medium-bodied. Highly extracted. Moderately tannic. Red fruits, mineral. Mineral and red-fruits aromas lead a dry palate, with fine-grained tannins showing on the finish. Youthful, vibrant style.

To achieve complexity, the Pedroncelli family uses Cabernet from three vineyard areas in this excellent blend. Fruit from Dry Creek's western slope provides spice and intensity. From the warm northern slopes, the wine gains deep, sumptuous plum notes. For structure and aging potential, it depends on fruit from the cooler southwestern benchland. Taken together, they make Three Vineyards a classic Sonoma Cabernet.

This supple cabernet is ready to drink, with cherry fruit, clove and cinnamon spice and a round mouthfeel. Herersquo;s a bone-dry, somewhat lean Cabernet. It has tobacco and blackberry flavors, framed in rich, furry tannins. Quite a nice sipper for drinking now with grilled steaks and chops.
