Pazo de Senorans Albarino 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

"A superb straw color with green shades, this wine shows floral aromas and ripe fruit with hints of apple and grapefruit on the nose. Round and well-balanced with great length and a lingering finish, this wine is ready to drink now or in months to come.In the subregion of Val do Salnes. As is typical in Rias Baixas, vineyards are very small, family owned plots. About one third of the wine is sourced from estate vineyards while the remaining comes from almost 200 growers - all of which have worked with the estate for 20 years and take tremendous pride in their grapes (plus they are paid according to the quality of the grapes). Growers bring sample bunches to the winery to be analyzed and winemaker Ana Quintela Suarez dictates when to harvest. Grapes are harvested in small cases and almost always by women. Aging: 5 months in stainless steel on the lees." -Importer

Not much in the way of aromas, although, son-of-a-gun, there is a mint thing happening. Very pleaant on the palate. Initial sensation is crisp and refreshing. Noticealbe apple flavor--Granny Smith to be specific. Apple note comes with pleasant acid structure, US$17.99 at Total WIne

Pale yellow. Fruity nose, sweetness. Taste the bitterness, but not aggressively, enough to open the appetite. Smooth finish, not really on citrus rather notes of apple. This first contact with the Albariño grape is attractive and original. In the right direction: a wine of the Atlantic coast that I can not relate to the white French I know.

Although light in color, this wine from Rias Baixas is anything but that in bouquet and aroma. Party in a glass is what you get from the first sniff. Nose is vibrant and screams of honey, tropical notes with lemony undertones. The 2009 Pazo Senorans Albarino is intense, creamy and well-balanced with an enjoyable crisp finish.
