Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle(1989)

812 356 - Gregory Dal Piaz
- New York, NY
- November 2008
- Gentle at first with building intensity to the graphite, herbal and cedar tones on the nose. The slightly candied raspberry tones stay lurking but are obvious. Very structured in the mouth with good balance but very youthful tannins and strong acidity. Tight and somewhat unyielding though the fruit does pop on the long finish.88 for now but 94 plus potential 2012-2025

- Popped and poured. Never really got this to the right temperature. Leather, smoke, meat and some raspberry on the nose. The palate has classic Syrah components but the fruit is still buried underneath the structure. I'd say 5 years more at least.
