Amazing nose! Earthy, mellow, not a "fruit bomb" but still lots going on. Lots of raisin/cherry on the palate, but not too sweet or syrupy. Rich but smooth. Had this one at a tasting and everyone was raving. Hard to describe...you'll just have to try it for yourself.

Vintage: 2010 10/10/2012

Perfumed and supple, with rich black cherry, blackberry, floral and spice, gaining depth and nuance. Ends with tight, chewy tannins. Best to cellar. Best from 2013 through 2022.

Bright ruby. High-pitched aromas of raspberry, cherry-cola, allspice and rose. Silky, gently sweet and focused, with very good depth and intense, floral-accented red fruit character. Silky tannins add focus and shape. This suave wine drinks very well right now.

The 2010 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is beautiful. It has a bit more depth and darker fruit than the 2009. Sweet spices, new leather and licorice are some of the notes that wrap around the finish. This is a terrific showing. Anticipated maturity: 2012andndash;2020.

The 2010 Pinot Noir Ulises Valdez Vineyard impresses for its superb elegance and pedigree. Dark fruit, flowers, spices and licorice are some of the notes that come together in the glass. The 2010 expresses plenty of the size and volume that are typical of this site, but with more finesse, elegance and delineation than found in the 2009. Mint, licorice and flowers add nuance on the bright, high-toned finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015ndash;2025.

Offers a rich medley of blackberry and raspberry, with a touch of floral and black licorice. Tightly focused and well-structured, this is long on the finish. Drink now through 2019.

Deep ruby in color, this complex pinot noir offers aromas of wild berries, rose petals, cola and tobacco. The silky, supple palate is brimming with raspberry, caramel fleur de sel, lavender, cardamom; all supported with a mineral backbone.

Winemaker's Notes:

91-93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): The 2011 Pinot Noir Ulises Valdez Vineyard is seamless, layered and very pretty. It is interesting to see that the Ulises Valdez is the wine that is most consistent across the 2010 and 2011 vintages here. The 2011 has much of the same richness as the 2010, but at the same time it isn't quite as heavy. Sweet floral and spice notes add complexity to the juicy, expressive finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (Apr 2013)
