Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir Carneros 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Silky and sophisticated, the 2005 appellation blend is a richly-textured wine, exhibiting a deep maroon hue and lots of cocoa and lavender on the nose. Layers of pure black fruit, anise and cedar permeate the palate, with firm, ripe tannins gracing a lengthy finish.

Paul Hobbs Winery sprouted from the passion of one man: Paul Hobbs. Paul wasn’t satisfied just becoming Head Enologist of Robert Mondavi’s Opus One in 1981, or becoming Vice-President/Winemaker of Simi Winery in 1989. No, he wanted to create his very own grapes, on his own land. This passion led to the creation of Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991. Focused in the Russian River Valley, each harvest is meticulously captured so as to extract the very best from each grape. This passion started with only three wines in the winery’s repertoire: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, but the winery quickly grew to produce over a dozen wines. Today, Paul Hobbs still consults other wineries around the globe, including wineries in Chile, Argentina, and Hungary. Read less

Rich plum red in color, our second release of Pinot Noir under the Crossbarn label is mouth filling with a great balance of fruit and earth. It greets the nose with aromas of strawberry and clove, and offers loads of cherry, mocha and vanilla on the palate, with a hint of smoked meat and white pepper on the finish. SDWC.

Smooth and creamy, with pretty mocha-laced oak and blackberry aromas that turn supple and harmonious on the palate. Ends with a long, fleshy aftertaste that keeps the focus on the berry fruit. Drink now through 2012. 279 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2005 Hobbs, Paul Pinot Noir Ulises Valdez Vineyard 750ml

This Pinot Noir comes mostly from Paul Hobb's vineyard Lindsay Estate in the Russian River Valley. With bright cherry and black tea aromas, to a full, plush mouth feel packed with flavors of wild berries and mushrooms, Hobbs has created an intriguing Pinot. Unfined and unfiltered.
