Paul Hobbs Chardonnay Sonoma Mountain Cuvée Agustina Richard Dinner Vineyard 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Our most limited chardonnay is sourced from a tiny parcel within the gravelly acreage of this small, hillside property. The barrel selection named in honor of Paul's daughter Agustina finds opulence and finesse in stunning balance. Luminescent pale yellow in color, it is brightly scented with spiced pear and honeysuckle. The mouth-filling palate unfolds in velvety, well-articulated layers of fresh Fuji apple, kumquat, yeasty brioche and vanilla bean with white ginger and flinty minerality enlivening the enduring finish of this distinctive chardonnay.

Paul Hobbs Winery sprouted from the passion of one man: Paul Hobbs. Paul Hobbs Winery sprouted from the passion of one man: Paul Hobbs. Paul wasn’t satisfied just becoming Head Enologist of Robert Mondavi’s Opus One in 1981, or becoming Vice-President/Winemaker of Simi Winery in 1989. No, he wanted to create his very own grapes, on his own land. This passion led to the creation of Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991. Focused in the Russian River Valley, each harvest is meticulously captured so as to extract the very best from each grape. This passion started with only three wines in the winery’s repertoire: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, but the winery quickly grew to produce over a dozen wines. Today, Paul Hobbs still consults other wineries around the globe, including wineries in Chile, Argentina, and Hungary. Read less

Excellent golden color with a subtle haze. Scents of pear and honey. Flavors of pear and and hints of melon but only modestly sweet on the mid-palette with just a touch of honey towards the finish. Crisp and well balanced.

Rich plum red in color, our second release of Pinot Noir under the Crossbarn label is mouth filling with a great balance of fruit and earth. It greets the nose with aromas of strawberry and clove, and offers loads of cherry, mocha and vanilla on the palate, with a hint of smoked meat and white pepper on the finish. SDWC.

Complex and well-built, offering modest flavors and medium weight, with notes of spicy apple and light cedary oak, ending with honeydew melon and honeysuckle accents. Drink now through 2016.

The 2011 Chardonnay Russian River reveals wonderful notes of poached pears, honeyed citrus, a touch of spice and subtle background wood. With crisp acidity, medium body, good purity and a flavorful style, it can be drunk over the next 2–3 years.

The 2011 Chardonnay has quite a bit more energy than the 2010. This is a decidedly wiry vintage for the 2011 Russian River bottling. Bright floral notes meld into citrus in this striking, vibrant Chardonnay. Anticipated maturity: 2013–2018.

The 2003 Chardonnay Russian River (2,167 cases) has the green chlorophyll nuance to the light straw color. Honeyed grapefruit, citrus, and lemon zest are present in this medium-bodied, fruit-driven, ripe, and intriguing Chardonnay which seems to keep the oak well-hidden in the background. It is Chablisean in its personality. Drink it over the next 2ndash;3 years.
