Paul Dolan Vineyards Zinfandel 2012

Member Review by aronowm2:

Everything you could ever want out of a zinfandel. Great full creamy mouthfeel. Nice oak and sweetness. Part of my dinner with this was black pepper and potato pierogies which really countered the pepper of this wine and gave this some extra sweetness. Same quality as any Ridge Zinfandel at $5 less.

Very bright red fruit and cocoa. Significant alcohol heat. Extremely long fruity finish with little oak. This wine is BERRYLICIOUS. Me likey. Do not decant as it will most likely fall apart in the decanter after an hour or so.

Very drinkable and pleasant to the palate. I love that it is organic, but don't let that stop you! Just the right amount of spice for drinking with friends or with food.

A very refreshing wine. Not typical of a Zin. I noticed that the smell was that of a classic zinfandel, being peppery and fruity. I thought the taste was more fruity and reminded me of classic merlot flavors. Not peppery enough for my taste but altogether a decent wine. A good red to drink with oily fish, and red meat. Great for summer bar-b-q's.

Wine Tasting NotesThe Mendocino County Zinfandel in this bottle includes fruit from the Dolan family's vineyard south of Talmage. Paul Dolan's old friend, Frank Alviso, provided the Amador County component for this wine. Mendocino County gives this wine its jammy berry quality. Amador County lends a distinctive peppery spice. Together these opposites attract into a perfect marriage.
