Paul Dolan Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Mendocino County 2007

Under the leadership of Paul Dolan, former President of Fetzer Vineyards, Parducci are committed to socially responsible and environmentally sound agriculture and winemaking methods while working to enhance the quality, recognition and perception of Mendocino County Wines. The winery, the oldest in Mendocino, was certified as organic by CCOF in 2003 and all vineyards are either certified as or in transition to organic and biodynamic status. 150 acres practice Fish Friendly Farming whereby the use of pesticides and other controls which could be damaging to fish, are kept to an absolute minimum. Bob Swain, who has been Parducci's winemaker since 1997, continues at the winery, making the shift from conventional operations to organic farming and sustainable business practices. Paul Dolan Vineyards is certified organic but also one of the few wineries in California that is farmed biodynamically. Biodynamic winegrowers use the interactions of all the natural aspects of their farm to guide them. The results, certainly in this case are ripe delicious wines with a distinct character and style. This Cabernet scored 92 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "A terrific Cabernet...In fact, you could place it next to far more expensive Napa bottlings. It's dry and elegantly tannic and complex, showing blackberry, currant, violet, herb and cedar flavors that bring to mind a fine Bordeaux."

WE 92pts - Winemaker Notes - This full-flavored wine shows the intensity of its red soil roots. It is ripe and plumy, with intriguing notes of anise and brown spice, and the structure to age five years or more from the vintage. This wine is the unique expression of a carefully nurtured piece of land, made manifest in each bottle. We do without conventional pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, treating the soil as a living, life-giving system.
