Patz & Hall Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2011
The cool 2011 vintage has yielded a lovely, aromatically driven expression of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir marked by layered floral notes of rose, carnation and violet, as well as delicate hints of red fruit and spice. On the palate, the flavors are vivid and pure, with red cherry and raspberry fruit supported by soft, yet enlivening acidity. The tannins are supple and subtle, adding to this wine's weight and velvety texture, with oak-inspired notes of cinnamon, clove and maple syrup contributing nuance and complexity. All of these elements lead to a long creamy finish. This is an exceptional food wine that will provide lots of pleasure in its youth. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 92 points by Wine Spectator: A subtle, seductive style with understated plum and black cherry, touches of mineral and cedar. Gains richness and depth, ending with a burst of flavor. Drink now through 2020.
Established in 1988, Patz & Hall embodies the shared vision and collective expertise of four talented friends - Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz. Together, this dedicated team of individuals has turned a desire to craft benchmark, single-vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs into one of California's most celebrated artisan wineries.
External Reviews for Patz & Hall Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
Even better than the previous vintage, which we thought was quite fine, Patz and Hall 2011 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is intensely aromatic, vivid, and pure.
Ripe and juicy, with red and black plum and black cherry flavors. The silky texture lets the flavors linger on the finish, ending with a touch of fresh earth and anise. Drink now through 2022.
The 2011 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is their largest cuvee of Pinot Noir (just over 7,000 cases). This wine, which was totally harvested before any rains, displays a dark ruby color and notes of forest floor intermixed with anise, Asian plum sauce, pomegranate and black cherries. It is ripe, deep, lovely and ideal for drinking over the next 3–4 years.
