- (15.2% alcohol; the other pinots all say 14.2% on the label) Good deep ruby-red. Sappy aromas of black raspberry, minerals, pepper, smoked meat, dark chocolate and earth (Hall describes the nose as "brownies with baked walnuts"). Hugely sweet and deep, with a sappy quality to the fruit and complicating notes of pepper, herbs and spices. This has the lush texture, size and weight of a Burgundy grand cru. I would have scored it even higher but for a slight alcoholic warmth.

- Did I already use the word extracted? Creamy and rich in the nose showing blue and black fruits, licorice, spice and complex layering of flavors. This wine will only continue to evolve and provide much satisfaction in the years to come.
