Probably the slowest to develop among all of the Patz & Hall Pinot Noir. Like last year the Alder Springs in barrel was an enigma. To fully appreciate where this wine will be in 5 to 8 years you need to look at past vintages. I had the rare opportunity to taste the 2001 and 2002 vintages with James Hall and vineyard owner Stu Bewley recently and scored the 2001 VF 95 and the 2002 VF 93. Additionally the 2003 scored VF 92. Experience shows that this wine develops slowly and consistently improves with age. The dark horse wine of the vintage, in big bottles these wines will last well into the next decade.
