Patz and Hall Dutton Ranch Chardonnay 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

With perfect weather and significantly smaller crops than the previous vintage, 2007 was a standout year for Chardonnay, and the 2007 Dutton Ranch - Russian River Valley Chardonnay is no exception. Seamlessly combining both high tone and bass notes, this wine begins with lovely tropical aromas of mango and pineapple accented by subtle Muscat and white flower notes. On the palate, the wine is flowing and gracious, echoing the tropical fruit of the nose and combining it with layers of nut crust, graham cracker and crème brûlée. Though bone dry, it hints at sweetness, and concludes with an appealingly full and broad-textured finish.

Oak on the nose with tropical fruits, especially papaya and mango. The mouth is very pleasant, just the right acids and sweetness. The wood gives it good body.

Very nice oaky, buttery chardonnay with lime, quince and coconut flavors. Rich emollient mouthfeel with some bay leaf and red apples on the finish.

Holy zaftig Chard! Sturdy oak on the nose, downright luscious in the mouth. Tropical notes peek out over buttered toast and juicy pear.

The nose is mild, a bit of poultry spices. Round mouth with lots of herbal qualities and bits of tropical fruit. Not bad.

Spicy buttery oaky nose. Lean in the mouth with nicely balanced acidity and a complex bready flavor mixed with apples and pears.

Bright apples and lemon on the nose. Nice attack - pretty acidic with moderate oak. Dry and bready - a slight banana twinge on the finish.

A nice balance of vanilla-scented oak wrapped around a core of spicy pear, with hints of nutmeg, gaining intensity. Drink now through 2004.

From its creamy peach, tart green apple and cinnamon aromas to it moresophisticated notes of brioche, slate and earthy cedar, this wine offers enticing complexity. In themouth, beautifully defined flavors of juicy white peach are supported by hazelnut and spice layers, aswell as vibrant acidity that adds poise and freshness. At the same time, in keeping with the characterof the 2009 vintage, this is an intense and mouthfilling expression of Zio Tony Chardonnay, with aseamless oak presence that adds subtle hints of flint, clove and cardamom

A mix of ripe cherry, strawberry, rhubarb and blueberry flavors that, while appealing, fail to offer much in the way of depth or complexity. Enjoy it now. Drink now through 2004.

The tightly-knit 200 Chardonnay Hyde Park Vineyard displays vibrant acid levels, plenty of lemon custard, orange, and citrus characteristics, and medium to full-bodied, concentrated, nicely textured flavors. Purity, texture, harmony, and well-integrated oak characterize this impressively endowed Chardonnay.

Revealing a light green/gold color, the 2001 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard possesses an earthy, smoky nose with background notes of tangerines as well as orange peel. There is an underlying minerality in this medium-bodied 2001. Good acidity provides definition and uplift to this zesty, pure Chardonnay. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
