Patz & Hall Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2010
89 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): (a blend from six vineyards, mostly Gap's Crown and Dutton Ranch): Aromas of peach and green apple. A round, rich, lightly saline midweight with pear, spice and wild herb flavors nicely framed by fresh acidity. Finishes with good length and minerality. (May 2012)
Established in 1988, Patz & Hall embodies the shared vision and collective expertise of four talented friends - Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz. Together, this dedicated team of individuals has turned a desire to craft benchmark, single-vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs into one of California's most celebrated artisan wineries.
Editorial Reviews for Patz & Hall Chardonnay Sonoma Coast
Tight and focused on the nose with layers of mineral, floral, and slightly herb framed green apple and almost apricot tinged fruits that are nicely framed with a gentle touch of oak. A touch soft in the mouth with slightly exotic mango and musk melon flavors early on the palate. This has a fine underlying mineral note, that really drives the finish, but comes off as just a little loose on the palate. The oak is well judged but adds a bit of heaviness to the flavors here. Shows some textural appeal but also some heat on the finish. 88pts
