Patz & Hall Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

PinotFile: 14.2% alc., 454 cases... considered one of the grand cru sites in Carneros... appealing aromas of honey, lemon curd, roasted almonds and toasty oak. Moderately rich on the attack with luscious flavors of baked pear, lemon peel, and toffee, finishing soft and comforting with a refreshing brightness due to harmonious citrus-driven acidity. Choose any superlative you want. A masterpiece and one of the greatest California Chardonnays I have tasted this year. (10/1/12) 92+ points International Wine Cellar.

Green-tinged yellow. Captivating, rather Burgundian aromas of lemon cream, flowers, minerals and iodine. Intensely flavored and firmly built, with brisk acidity framing the sappy flavors of lemon cream, underripe pineapple and green tropical fruits. Energetic, tactile wine with lovely lingering perfume and a light touch. This may well merit an even higher score with a couple years of additional time in bottle.
