Patz & Hall Chardonnay Dutton Ranch 2012
92+ points Robert Parker: Another large cuvee is the 2012 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch (5,921 cases). Oodles of tropical fruit such as pineapple guava and mango are followed by notes of honeyed tangerine and citrus oil. It is deep, rich, full-bodied, and very complex already. This should drink nicely for 5-6 years. (Dec 2013)
Established in 1988, Patz & Hall embodies the shared vision and collective expertise of four talented friends - Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz. Together, this dedicated team of individuals has turned a desire to craft benchmark, single-vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs into one of California's most celebrated artisan wineries.
Big oaky bouquet, here—vanilla, caramel. Dainty fruit on the front of the tongue, accelerating towards the back—tropical fruits (melon, banana, mango) and some tree fruit (peach). Good refreshing acid that almost suggest citrus thankfully defeats the oakiness that I detected on the nose.
