Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge Estate 2006
"Dark red. Deep kirsch and dark berry aromas, with pungent herbs and incense gaining power with air. Rich, fleshy and expansive, with sweet, spicy dark fruit flavors dominating. This benefited from aeration, becoming fresher and livelier on the long, sappy finish."90(+?) pointsBy Josh Raynolds, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 08
A robust yet soft, smooth wine that bounces off the tongue and lingers for a light, vibrant fruit finish. This pinot starts with an earthy tones that open after aeration into robust dark cherry flavors, wrapped in rose petals before lingering on the palate with gentle dark fruit and smooth tannins. Would pair well with grilled beef filet, seared tuna, green herbed vegetables, or simply sipping with some sharp cheddar.

Full red. Pretty, high-pitched aromas of raspberry, rose petal, Asian spices and musky underbrush. Supple, silky and nicely balanced, with an alluring sweetness to the intense red fruit flavors. Becomes spicier in the middle palate and shows excellent clarity. Really spreads out on the spicy, focused, very long finish. Green describes that as "wild fruit, not domesticated."
Vivid medium red. High-pitched red berry and floral aromas are complemented by deeper notes of anise and black cardamom. Sappy and precise, with deep raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a sexy rose pastille quality. Fine-grained tannins add shape and grip to the long, spicy, energetic finish. I'd bet this very well-balanced wine will reward at least another five years of aging.
A bit of smokey dried cherries on the nose promises deep raisin flavors, but the palate is lifted by a bright stony acidity that lightens the depth of the fruit. The old vines kick in on the finish with a concentrated cherry licquor flavor that lasts for days.
Medium red color. Strongly perfumed bouquet of strawberry, raspberry, candied cherry and Asian spices, with a floral element emerging with air and carrying through on the palate. The wine's vivid red berry and rose pastille flavors are nicely framed by fine-grained tannins. Graceful, understated, spicy wine with a long finish and no rough edges whatsoever.
After leaving her stint at Torii Mor, Patricia Green has gone on to make a name for herself with her Oregon Pinot Noirs. The Estate Old Vines is known for its big, masculine structure. Aged in 1-2 year old barrels, this is a wine to age for 5-10 years. Earth, tobacco, and red raspberry fruit.
