Pascual Toso Syrah 2007
External Reviews for Pascual Toso Syrah
This wine has a complete harmony in color, with a deep, bright red combined with violets hints. Characterized by spicy aromas, plenty of vanilla and coco at the nose. The mouth has sweet tannins with a strong presence of spices from oak and the varietal character of syrah. All these notes give elegance and complexity to this wine of good persistent.
All sorts of smoky berry, cola and controlled toast aromas get this wine going in the right direction. It tastes very good, with pure, less than bashful plum and cola flavors leading straight to a fruity, lasting finish. This may not have much sauvage, old world Syrah character; but for Argentina itrsquo;s made right and registers from head to toe.
Coconut and dill aromas rise from the nose, and they are surrounded by berry, cassis and floral scents. The palate is tight, honest and a little hard, with middle-of-the-road berry flavors tinged with herbs. There’s size and power to this wine, but also balance. Compared to previous years, it’s a little generous but still a good way to go.
There is an intense red colour with highlights of blackberries, showing an exact point of maturation for the setting in bottle. On the nose, spices and red fruit arise in a persistent way. The little oak accentuates the rich berry character and the taste of coffee.
The same can be said for the 2007 Syrah which received the same elevage as the Malbec. It presents intense blueberry and pepper aromas and flavors, a forward personality, and exceptional length for its humble price.
