All our fine wines are produced at “Las Barrancas” and, the most selected ones, are made from grapes from our own vineyards. The winery “Las Barrancas” is exclusively dedicated to producing and growing of fine grapevines, which, with the ideal soil and climatic conditions of the area, produce juices of exceptional quality. Toso is also involved in producing sparkling wine and is one of the unique wineries in Mendoza which still continue with this traditional process. The Toso brand is now one of the leading sparkling wines sold in Argentina and in other countries as well. Still wines winery “Las Barrancas Winery” has all the latest, state-of-the-art technology for modern day winemaking for producing high quality wines. Modern technology and old traditions happily combine in the ageing of the wine in oak barrels in our dimly lit cellars. The total production capacity is about six million litres per annum. Sparkling wines winery Bodegas Pascual Toso has in its plant of San Jose, the traditional factory of sparkling wines by both the traditional Champenoise method and the modern Charmat method. “San Jose Winery” is located at 5 minutes from Mendoza Downtown. The original winery has been completely transformed and now, sparkling wine is produced, stored and bottled at San José. 60.000 bottles of Champenoise method sparkling wine is produced in one year, and 9.000.000 bottles are produced by the Charmat method. New to the Malbec (only) wines and am impressed with this low cost Malbec. It has a very deep purple appearance and did not hit my nose with much more than some fruit. I found this to have an excellent balance, smooth and light, if any, tannins. After some breathing, some pepper and spice came out that were not apparent at first taste. Blackberry is very strong to me and lingers. This wine rests nicely on the sides of the tongue and slowly leaves the palate. I would pair this with pasta and most meats, not steak, and will probably put it into regular rotation.

I'll definitely buy more of this! Great value. The nose was what you'd expect from a Malbec ... dark, ripe fruit. I enjoyed the blackberry, coffee, bitter chocolate and licorice flavors in this full-bodied wine. Very fruit forward on the attack, but it has a few nice surprises on the mid-palate and a wonderful, lingering finish. Very smooth tannins.

This is an update to my earlier review. After letting this bold malbec age a bit, I found it more enjoyable than the first taste! Let it open up and the rich texture fills the mouth with dark flavors of coffee, chocolate and licorice. Very drinkable with most foods. I'm down to my last bottle from the original case.

The 2006 vintage of this ripe Mendoza Malbec was rated 91 pts. and selected as Wine Enthusiast Magazine's #1 Best Buy of the Year! The 2007 is just as if not more bold, lush and intense than the 2006. Winemaker Paul Hobbs is the consulting enologist and this wine is a clear indication that he’s steering this established Argentine property in the right direction. A tremendous value.
