Pascual Toso Malbec 2009
On the nose is clean, fruitful. Its aroma reminds of plums & quince with a little touch of elegant oak. The mouth has a mild bouquet, blackberry and licorice fruit that keeps a firm grip through the finish. Thick and burly. Rich and long finish with smoky accents of vanilla and lingering oak.
The 2009 Pascual Toso Malbec is a bit lighter and less spicy than I prefer in a Malbec. But on its own merits, this is a good "clean", smooth wine with a lot of flavor. Initially a hint of apple quickly turning to dark fruits with a hint of licorice and leather. Medium finish with a bit of spice. All in all a very good wine, especially for the price - I paid about $12.
Satisfying, deep, rich, and spicy with just the right amount of oak. A mix of dark fruit and liquorice.
One of the easier tasting Malbec wines tasted in recent years. Clean and crisp on the tongue with a lightly spiced finish with some deep tones. Very pleasant for under $10

Tasting Notes - Deep red color with violet tints. Coffee, violets and blackberries aromas are felt in the nose, which integrate with spices giving a medium-structure harmonic wine impression. Long and rich finish with touches of oak and vanilla.
Winemaker Notes - Silky cinnamon, allspice, violets and black cherry, this Malbec offers savory flavors and promises complexity with age.
Our most popular Malbec of all time, the 2006 was selected as Wine Enthusiast Magazine's #1 Best Buy of the Year! This 2009 continues the amazingly consistent quality and value that this wine is famous for. Paul Hobbs is the consulting enologist here. His California experience has steered this established Argentine property in the direction of full flavors, rich fruit and beautiful balance. The Wine Advocate said of this '09 "Forward, savory, racy style, smooth texture." Another super value!
The 2006 vintage of this ripe Mendoza Malbec was rated 91 pts. and selected as Wine Enthusiast Magazine's #1 Best Buy of the Year! The 2008 is just as if not more bold, lush and intense than the 2006. Winemaker Paul Hobbs is the consulting enologist and this wine is a clear indication that he's steering this established Argentine property in the right direction. A tremendous value.
