Pascual Toso Malbec 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Accolades:

Robert Parkers Wine Advocate: "The lineup starts with the 2007 Malbec, forty percent of which was aged in American oak for 10 months. It reveals an alluring nose of black cherry and blueberry leading to a grapy, smooth-textured, forward wine with tons of flavor. Drink this crowd-pleaser over the next three years. It is an awesome value." (Dec. 2008)

Wine Spectator: "Fresh and open, with a mix of raspberry and black cherry fruit followed by a modest dose of toast on the easygoing finish. Drink now." (11/08)

The new 2007 Pascual Toso Malbec is as good as ever. It offers a bit more aromatic complexity than the 2006, with an inviting nose of sweet blackberries, vanilla and mocha, hiding a core of white pepper, violet and cassis. Fleshy and ripe with a bursting mid-palate of juicy cherry, black currant and pie crust, this is completely enjoyable and instantly drinkable, showing the hand of consulting winemaker, Paul Hobbs.

All our fine wines are produced at “Las Barrancas” and, the most selected ones, are made from grapes from our own vineyards. The winery “Las Barrancas” is exclusively dedicated to producing and growing of fine grapevines, which, with the ideal soil and climatic conditions of the area, produce juices of exceptional quality. Toso is also involved in producing sparkling wine and is one of the unique wineries in Mendoza which still continue with this traditional process. The Toso brand is now one of the leading sparkling wines sold in Argentina and in other countries as well. Still wines winery “Las Barrancas Winery” has all the latest, state-of-the-art technology for modern day winemaking for producing high quality wines. Modern technology and old traditions happily combine in the ageing of the wine in oak barrels in our dimly lit cellars. The total production capacity is about six million litres per annum. Sparkling wines winery Bodegas Pascual Toso has in its plant of San Jose, the traditional factory of sparkling wines by both the traditional Champenoise method and the modern Charmat method. “San Jose Winery” is located at 5 minutes from Mendoza Downtown. The original winery has been completely transformed and now, sparkling wine is produced, stored and bottled at San José. 60.000 bottles of Champenoise method sparkling wine is produced in one year, and 9.000.000 bottles are produced by the Charmat method. On the nose is clean, fruitful. It aromas reminds of plums & quince with a little touch of elegant oak. The mouth has a mild bouquet, blackberry and licorice fruit that keeps a firm grip through the finish. Thick and Burly. Rich and long finish with smoky accents of vanilla and lingering oak.

The 2006 vintage of this ripe Mendoza Malbec was rated 91 pts. and selected as Wine Enthusiast Magazine's #1 Best Buy of the Year! The 2008 is just as if not more bold, lush and intense than the 2006. Winemaker Paul Hobbs is the consulting enologist and this wine is a clear indication that he’s steering this established Argentine property in the right direction. A tremendous value.Terms & Conditions : Pay only $0.99 per bottle Standard UPS Ground Shipping on Malbec 2008 Pascual Toso, Maipu Vineyards.
