Pascal Jolivet Sancerre 2017

Winemaker's Notes:

Pascal Jolivet is a highly regarded producer in this lovely region of the Loire Valley. The soil and climate of Sancerre are ideal for producing crisp, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc with a strong presence of minerality and racy acidity. Jolivet Sancerre has a beautiful, expressive nose that displays vibrant, clean fruit aromas along with nice minerality, while the palate has elegant stone fruit and cirtrus notes backed by mouth-watering acidity. Fish dishes, shellfish and goats' cheeses will prove to be a compelling match.

Pours a bright clear light straw color. Scents of peaches, minerals, wet stone and lemon zest. Starts off with ample amounts of peaches and lemon zest. In the middle, some iron type minerality along with some wet stone. Finishes with more minerality coming through to balance out the intensified citrus. A nice medium bodied Sauvignon Blanc. Plenty of acidty. This is a great drinker on a hot day, which is when I had this. Pascal Jolivet, for me, provides a great everyday wine at an affordable price.

Citrus and peaches on the nose. LOTS of lemon on the tongue with some sweet apple filtering in there. Bits of mineral on the finish, but never losing the citrus. It's a hot day here in NYC, and I have to say this was the perfect refreshing end to a hot day.

The nose showed citrus, apple, stony minerals and even a hint of that textbook cat pee. On the palate, it was smooth with flavors of grapefruit, and pineapple in a sweet 'n sour play on each other. The finish was fresh and staying displaying citrus and minerals.

Pours a light yet clear straw color. Aromas of light citrus, sage, quartz and other minerals. Starts off with a nice amount of citrus, mostly oranges, lemons and even some lime. In the middle, the citrus is still there but there is an undertone of wet stones and some quartz. Finishes with nice lemon zest kick. A nicely acidic medium bodied wine. Served this with some lemon shrimp and pasta. Paired really nice.

Pours a clear pale straw color, very bright and clean. Aromas of flint, citrus and minerals. Starts off with a nice mixture of citrus and flint. The flint becomes more predominant in the middle but there is still nice amounts of citrus. Finishes with some nice minerality and some lemon zest. This medium bodied wine is nice and dry, with lively acidity. Very clean crisp and refreshing.

Straw colored clean dry wine - would not be able to distinguish this from lower priced sauvignon blancs

Terroir: Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Blanc is sourced from three vineyards in the heart of the appellation. The "Les Caillottes" vineyard and it's chalky soils makes up 50% of the blend, followed by the hillside vineyard of "Les Terres Blanches" at 30% and the limestone and flint riddled vineyard of "Silex" making up the remaining 20%. Vinification: Pascal Jolivet practices a minimalist winemaking style, allowing nature to take it's course. Each of his white wines is produced using exclusively native yeasts, and entirely in temperature stainless steel. All parcels are vinified separately until final blending and bottling. Additional Information: Pale and vibrant in color. The 2014 Pascal Jolivet Sancerre is fresh, clean and screaming with racy acidity. On the palate it is fresh and tightly wound; acidity is tempered by very subtle residual sugar; very clean; alive, racy, youthful. Overall, a dry and elegant wine. ** Only 7 in Stock **

Light thyme and lime notes mingle here, with a flicker of flint on the tangy, high-toned finish. Displays more bones than flesh, but remains pure. Pale and vibrant in color.
