Parés Baltà Ros de Pacs Joven Rosat 2014

Member Review by dwe:

Nice light and crisp wine, not a heck of a lot of aromatics going on, but went nice with cheese fondue for christmas dinner. Not sweet. I've had better Cava, but for the QPR, i would buy again for shelf for some bubbly you could have any WEEK NIGHT!

We produce wines and cavas of high quality and the grapes come from our own vineyards - five estates, situated around the winery and in the mountains of Penedés. The altitude varies from 170 to 750 meters and offers a diverse mixture of soils and microclimates that gives a special personality to our wines. At Parés Baltà we have been cultivating our vineyards in an ecological way since 1790, and since the 2004 harvest the vineyards have been certified as ecological/organic. We have our own flock of sheep to fertilize the soils and beehives to encourage pollination. The close proximity of the Mediterranean Sea also influences the quality of our grapes for the better. We are winemakers with a long tradition but with new and fresh ideas. Actually there are three generations working at Parés Baltà: The grandfather Joan Cusiné Hill (born 1917) continues to be active together with his son Joan Cusiné Cusiné but the reins of the business have now passed to his two grandsons - Joan and Josep Cusiné Carol who together are guiding the company into a new era of high quality wine production. The winemaking is in the hands of Maria Elena Jimenez and Marta Casas, enologists and wives of Joan and Josep. Two skilled young women whose efforts are reflected in the quality of the wines that are produced at Parés Baltà; showing fine character and concentration yet with elegance and balance. Thank you for visiting our website. Here we try to convey the passion, emotions and efforts that we put into the cultivating of the vineyards and when making our wines. Welcome to enjoy our wines and also to visit the winery and vineyards. Read less

An organic wine, hints of tropical fruits and honey.

This organic Cava sets a higher bar than some slightly cheaper alternatives: excellent mousse that lingers for several minutes, floral and honeyed bouquet (though subdued) with a hint of treacle on the palate. Very clean and smooth with the usual slight nutty bitter almond on the finish. Very good value as a Champagne substitute though not quite as sophisticated perhaps. (second bottle)

Fresh and fruity. Lots of melon and peach on the palate. Less minerality than I prefer in Brut stlyes but better than the average Cava in terms of finish.

Penedes, SpainPares Balta Cava Brut is a delightful sparkling wine from the Cava appellation of the Penedes region in the northeast of Spain, just west of Barcelona. Pares Balta is a family owned winery in the Penedes region with a tradition that goes back to 1790. The vineyards have been certified organic since the 2004 vintage. This Cava is a blend of 58% Parellada, 25% Macabeo and 17% Xarel.lo. According to the importer, Bryce McNamee of rising-star Boutique Wine Collection, the Parellada dominates the blend and contributes to the fresh floral notes, the Macabeo brings the fruit and the Xarel.lo the body to the blend. What we love is that the end result works like a wine gem! Josh Raynolds for Stephen Tanzer rated this Spanish sparkler 88 points.Pares Balta Cava Brut is soft yellow-green in color with fine bubbles. It has an enticing nose of white peaches, apples, pears, melon and lime. Crisp and bright, dry with medium body, this sparkling wine has rich flavors of apple, honeydew, peach and mineral notes. It is fruit-forward and nicely balanced, with a clean finish of tropical fruits.Enjoy Pares Balta Cava Brut as the perfect summer aperitif wine and with filet of sole, grilled shrimp, paella, chicken salad, and fruit desserts.

Falls neatly in the lean, clean style of Cava. Persistent bubbles swim in mineral-laden liquid. Light fruit notes of green apple and a crisp finish demand briny oysters, smoked fish, salmon roe sushi or Thai soups with coconut.

Light gold. Spicy mineral and citrus peel aromas with a hint of yellow plum. Fresh and broad on the palate showing notes of orange apple white peach and floral honey. Soft and supple but has good bite on the back the orange note repeating and lingering. ST (Sep/Oct 06) The Parellada comes from some of the highest slopes in the Penedes it dominates the blend and contributes to the fresh floral notes stemming from the cool conditions.
