Paras Vineyard Viognier Mt. Veeder 2006
Situated at an elevation of 1200 feet in the Mount Veeder appellation, the Paras Vineyard provides a superb site for growing Viognier. When grown in fine, well-drained rocky soils this rare white Rhône grape displays complex yet subtle flavors of citrus blossom, wildflower, ripe pear, and honey.
Unusual viognier with a tight, fresh cooling nose of pear and mineral and a strong attack of fruit. In mouth taste of mandarin orange and pear liqueur. Finish is quite long and sweet, reminded me of the taste of fruit-flavored rock candy on a string I ate at Disneyland as a child.
Two and a half glasses
