Paraduxx Napa Valley 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

"This is a rich polished harmonious style thats a successful blend of Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon It exhibits pretty smoky toasty oak and layers of currant sage herb flavors that fill in lots of flavor gaps Mouthcoating with a long persistent finish that echoes currant oak and cedary notes

currant, tannic; lighter than I would expect.

Very powerful nose of cherry, sezchuan pepper, and pineapple rind. This bottle was running a little ""hot"" on day 1, but became more balanced on day two. Flavor highlights were sour cherry, red currant and blackberry. Based on my observations with this bottle, I believe this could develop another couple of years in the cellar. 89 pts. 11/16/06 - AMAZING transformation! Bottle had been vacu-vin sealed and refrigerated. I poured and allowed to come to room temperature. The nose is still insanely delicious (I could just bury my nose in the glass and be happy), but the big change is in the taste. That wonderful plum flavor that I look for in Zins (but was missing on days 1 & 2) came forward today along with some oak, a little smoke and joined the cherry and other fruit flavors from day 2. The alcohol is completely integrated and this wine is just super today. Based on today's taste, I have to up the score to a 91.

Love this wine. I have not been disappointed with any Duckhorn wine yet.
