Rather intense nose full of wood, butcher’s wax, talc, cream, and rich floral perfumes – plush in the mouth, very finely polished tannins, deep, aromatic fruit, a bit small scaled but with excellent balance, nice tannins are firm but ripe, shows real focus and drive across the palate, good length and fruit persistence (91-92)

This just reeks of new baseball glove leather with an underlay of spiced damson plum and tobacco leaf. Gains spicy tones with air offering some Christmas Cake and even minty top notes. In the mouth this starts off round and lush with a core of almost jammy cassis fruits and wonderful integration, silky, bright and focused until the mid-palate when the spitzy acidity comes and washes out the wine leaving it disjointed and unhappy. The raw material here is impressive indeed and from better bottles this may be tremendous but tonight only passable. 80pts

Here we find classic aged Graves from a great vintage with deep notes of curing tobacco, huge dried herb notes, sweet black spices smoking in a saute pan, a dark core of cassis fruit and bright notes of tarragon and Savory, Lean and feathering in the mouth with a lovely resolved character that is elegant and refined though a bit faded and even bony on the backend though there is a fine core of iron/gravel rich dark fruit on the mid-palate with notes of savory bouillon adding depth and deep notes of damp cigar lingering on the long finish which has a bit of tannin emerging on the everso lightly astringent finale. A wonderful bottle of mature bordeaux 93pts

Rich and muscular, with exotic roasted spice, braised fig and warm raspberry confiture ... Best from 2015 through 2030. -JM

Dark ruby. A classic expression of left-bank Bordeaux with blackcurrant, black cherry, leather, cedar, and cloves characteristics. Tannins have calmed down, so it's starting to drink nicely now, but still has lots of life left in it as well (note that we tasted from a Magnum).

This wine is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon/ Merlot and using a technique known as “saignee”. Bleeding vats of red wine at an early stage, when the juice has just begun to color, that pink juice is removed can be fermented separately to produce rose. Mature pink. Vanilla, toast, maltose & honey notes. Minerality with strawberry hints. Silky texture & well balanced. Medium bodied. Drink now.

Classy wine from a transition era between old and new world bordeaux. Eucalyptus nose, with some plum and chocolate showing initially. This was the Merlot showing up early on, though after a couple hours of decanting, the Cabernet Sauvignon showed green notes mixed with the red fruits, soil, and oak. Very nice.

Purple color of average intensity. Aromatic fruity ripe and subtle nose. It smells of ashes and pinewood. Suave on entry the wine develops aromatic finely pulpy and melting. It finishes long and tasty with a lovely grain of tannins and a hint of vividness to be melted during barrel ageing. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com

50% cabernet sauvignon and 50% merlot. From a 43-hectare portion of this historic 700-year old domaine planted at a high density of 7 700 vines/ha. The complex soils are a mix of different geological gravel formations and yields are just 26 hl/ha. The wine was run off by gravity into 100% new French oak barrels from eight different coopers for malolactic and six months of aging sur lies. This will be aged in barrel for roughly 18 months. Harvest ran from September 13th to October 6th. The fruit is hand-harvested and destemmed by hand on sorting tables manned by 200 people. The whole berries are then moved by hand to small oak fermenters. A deep shiny red this is an ultra-concentrated wine and for me the top Pessac of the vintage. The intense aromas of clay violet lilac red flowers cassis blackberry tar and licorice immediately place this on another level. At this very young stage it s incredibly tannic but ample minerality and fruit contribute to this long finish. Very powerful and doesn t quit. Michel Rolland consults. Tasted three times. Drink 2019-2035. Cory Gowan.

Nicely toasty with a lovely broad stroke of mocha and ganache spread over the velvety core of plum sauce blackberry coulis and steeped currant fruit. The long polished finish keeps a tarry thread running along with the fruit adding length and range. Not shy on style. Best from 2018 through 2035. -JM Wine Spectator.

Bright ruby-red. Complex but restrained aromas of spiced plum strawberry mocha iron tobacco and sexy oak. Wonderfully rich layered and concentrated with a chewy high-extract quality to its powerful cassis blueberry camphor and licorice flavors. Compellingly chewy but without any easy sweetness. Wonderfully intense but not at all overextracted conveying an impression of medicinal reserve that suggests this wine will be very long-lived. The extremely long elegant finish boasts noble tannins and lovely energy and lift. A great vintage for this wine but hands off for at least six or seven years. 94+ Stephen Tanzers IWC.
