What to Expect

Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Winemakers Notes

Rated 97 points by Robert Parker.

Editorial Reviews

The nose is a bit woodsy here with nice mushroom and licorice tones but lots of cocoa and oak notes as well. Good acids in the mouth are paired with big, drying tannins. there is a bit of a woody sweetness here and the sweet pipe tobacco and rum raisin fruit tones come off as a bit clumsy. Pretty big scaled but not a lot of depth on the palate. Spicy warm finish with a bit more of a red fruit character improves with airing. 86pts

Reviews

Upon opening a rich, warm and inviting nose filled with candied plum, menthol, potpourri and a little port. Dark purple in color. Cherries vanilla and rose petal on the palette. Long but cloying finish.

An enjoyable Barolo but certainly from the modernists school of thinking. The oak used on this wine was too apparent. At times the nose turned to a jumble of cotton candy and confectionary deserts. Not my style of Barolo but enjoyable all the same.

Musty fungal/barnyard aromas. Palate is fresh and fruity, delicious acidity and fruit, cherries and spice, a very refreshing wine. Nice long finish.
