Paolo Scavino Barolo Riserva Rocche Dell'Annunziat Italy Red Barolo 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

Paolo Scavino Rocche Annunziata displays excellent red-ruby. Superripe aromas of black fruits licorice cocoa powder tar and graphite. Dense on entry then wonderfully full and concentrated in the middle with the wine's huge ripeness supported by sound penetrating acidity. Has the juiciness and energy of the best Barolos. Finishes with big building chewy tannins and superb ripeness. Seamless and compelling.

Saturated deep red. Superripe, liqueur-like nose hints at dried flowers and mocha. Huge, velvety and quite powerful, but still youthfully unevolved. Hints of brown spices and dried flowers. Best today on the explosively long finish, which features strong but well-buffered tannins.
