Paolo Leo Salice Salentino Riserva DOC 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

Salice Salentino is a DOC in Puglia, the 'heel' of Italy and this wine from Paolo Leo is a blend of 80% Negroamaro with 20% Malvasia Nera di Lecce, a strain of Malvasia unique to this part of Puglia. Deep, youthful cherry/purple colour with light aromas of plum, black cherry and exotic spices. Smooth and flavoursome with ripe cassis, blackberry and cherry flavours and a hint of treacle. Lovely sweet velvety fruit, good acidity and a lingering lightly spicy finish. Fresh enough to partner food, rich enough to enjoy on its own.
