What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

Ripe and full-bodied, this
wine exudes both comfor t
and sophistication. Indulgent
yet refined, the wine
opens up with a bouquet
filled with aromas of
plum, blackberry, anise,
leather and vanilla. Following
are rich, spiced
flavor s, such as blackberry,
black cherry,
cocoa, orange peel, black
pepper, currant, and
earth. As always, the
Shea drinks beautifully in
its youth, but merrits time
to mature in the bottle.

An earthy, gamey Pinot Noir that's full of great Pinot Noir character. Fruity & clearly from the New World but the earth accents - fern, leather, smoke - make it an incredible match with equally earthy cuisine.

This is the true sense of Oregon Pinot and Shea vineyard. Nose is full of funk and earth. Lots of earthiness and layers of red and black cherry. Good acid and nice balance. Nice to taste an American wine with 13% alcohol with great flavors.
