This wine is really a gem. It has the potential to age another 10+ years, but drinking well now, especially day2. Nose: rich dark chocolate with massive olive tones (in the best possible way). Vanilla, but also hints of cedar. Palate: more of the deep chocolate with rich date/plum mid-palate. The finish is smoothe as olive oil in texture and taste. Paired with tenderloin w/gorgonzola Cream sauce, mashed potatoes with cream, garlic and roasted brussel sprouts. 92 points

- This is a very rare wine in that it is a 50-50 blend of Sangiovese and the local Canaiolo variety. Terrine is named after the vineyard where the old Canaiolo vines were growing and is full bodied but with a lovely, softer rich finish. This is a sexy red wine - think Chianti meets Pomerol - with plump, juicy cherry, berry and vanilla flavours, a hint of tobacco, ripe supple tannins and a long satisfying finish. If you can keep your hands off it for five more years, it will be even more impressive, but don't be afraid of pulling the cork now.

- ($59; a 50/50 blend of sangiovese and canaiolo nero) Deep ruby. Deep re d and black cherry aromas are nicely accented by sweet spices, plum and a hint of fine leather. Absolutely captivating in its mix of opulence and freshness, with deep red berry and spicecake flavors, this offers a riper middle palate than the Riserva and more texture. Finishes long and pure, with silky tannins.
