Palmina White Blend Santa Barbara County Bianco Unico 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes This light, crisp, blended wine is a humble hommage to the dramatic proprietary whites produced in the Friuli region of north-eastern Italy. Bianca is a blend of five white wine grapes: 35% Traminer, 30% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Tocai Friulano, 15% Malvasia Bianca and 5% Pinot Grigio. Each grape contributes floral and fruit notes to the final wine, with the end result truely greater than the sum of the parts.

It is a strongly held belief that wine is an extension of the plate, a component of a meal and a means to bring people together. Formed by winemaker Steve Clifton in 1995, Palmina is named in honor of Steve’s great friend Paula, who taught him to love cooking, wine and the Italian lifestyle and who was a spark in Steve’s life. After Paula succumbed to breast cancer, Steve found that her given name on her Italian birth certificate was Palmina, and the winery was thus fittingly named. Read less

This delightful white pours a golden straw color, with hints of mango and passion fruit on the nose. Full-bodied white with a solid structure and loads of apricot and other stone fruit. Remarkable, Chablis-esque minerality and a juicy acidity give this wine the bones to support all the fleshy fruit and unctuous body. Would pair well with a remarkable variety of foods from vegetarian to fish to poultry and even pork.
