Palmeri Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard 2006

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Lightly aromatic with mineral and ash notes framing slow to emerge sweet slightly dried fruit tones. There’s a hint of wood here but it’s really unobtrusive. This is fairly subtle and yet subtly complex as well. Rich in the mouth with a muscular, tight feel to it. There’s plenty of freshness to the red, almost pomegranate toned fruit up front and stiff tannins on the backend that lead to a focused, long finish with cherry fruit tones winning out over the tannins on the finale. This is fresh and really well balanced, though obviously meant for the cellar. With everything in balance I can see this really blossoming over the medium term, say 2-5 years. 92pts

Palmeri wines are created by Kerry and Daisy Damskey with wisdom and passion as an expression of their dedication to what they love. Partnering with such renown grapegrowers as Jan Krupp of Stagecoach Vineyards in Napa and Denny Van Ness of Van Ness Vineyards in Geyserville, Palmeri is ensured the choicest selection of fruit with which to begin Kerry's special alchemy. The name Palmeri comes from Quercus palmeri, a small and scrappy oak that grows in the mountain ranges that Kerry Damskey gravitates to when selecting ultra-premium grape growing land. The labels for Palmeri feature the boar, the bat and the fox, epressenting the diverse fauna that is found on our hillsides. Some even refer the boar as Mr. Palmeri! He, like the wine, seems to have a special charm of his own. Kerry Damskey and Daisy Damskey hail from Sonoma County and have been in the wine business for over 25 years, Kerry as a winemaker and winery consultant and Daisy as a specialist in public relations and event planning.
