Pali Wine Co. Pinot Noir Monterey Santa Barbara Summit Vineyard 2008
Pali's 2008 "Summit" Pinot Noir is named for the Summit neighborhood in our founders' hometown of Pacific Palisades, California. The wine is made from a combination of lush, blue and black Pinot Noir fruit from the Turner Vineyard in Santa Barbara County, and mineral-laden, intense, red fruit from the lime-stone-rich Boer Vineyard in Chalone, CA. The result is a rich, sultry wine filled with juicy, ripe raspberries, sweet plum and red currants with traces of black pepper and mineral. For us, this wine represents the "summit" of our Cuvee Program of Pinot Noir blends.
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Nice spice on the nose with a real fresh aroma that features high-toned floral and spice notes over sweet red fruits. In the mouth this is richly fruited though very medium-boded with lovely acid fruit interplay and fresh, juicy flavors of cherry and watermelon. There are some fine-grained tannins here adding a bit of density and a lurking set of fresh herb and vanilla oak notes playing back-up. The finish is a touch extracted, and while a bit simple, this is absolutely delicious. 91pts
