Pali Huntington Pinot Noir 2012
Editorial Reviews for Pali Huntington Pinot Noir
Steamy and floral on the nose with aromas of steeped tea and moist dark earthy laying under the core of rhubarb laced cherry and strawberry jam fruit. Smooth and a bit chewy with an elegant blend of black cherry and herbal, rhubarb flavors on the plate that gain some soil tones on the backend. This is a bit dense and matte in the mouth but the flavors remains fresh and precise if a touch low key. The finish is a bit short and shows a touch of dryness though it is accompanied by intriguing dried herb and medicinal accents. The finish is a bit hot though. Well done for a wine of this size but the alcohol does detract a bit for me. 88pts
Herbal, spicy and gently astringent on the nose, this offers up cedary oak with spicy plum fruit topped with violet notes. Round and a bit plummy yet firm in the mouth, there's a lot of flavor to be found here. Rich, earthy blueberry and blackcurrant fruit flavors cover herb, mushroom and cola flavors. The wine turns really focused and quite tight on the back end and through the long finish, which shows lovely intensity and freshness to the fruit. The oak adds nice perfumes in the mouth but otherwise is quite discrete. A rather sophisticated Pinot that will benefit from a year or two in the cellar. 89pts

Ripe, lush and concentrated. Lifted aromatics of ripe plums, earth, wild blackberries and white pepper. A medium weight wine with round and lush mouth feel. Fruit-driven with layers of juicy red cherries, cranberries, toasty oak and sweet tannin.
Notably floral and spicy, with firm tannins amid the dark berry, mocha, roasted herb and fresh-turned earth flavors. This is complex, dense and persistent, gaining depth and length. Drink now through 2022.
Intensely ripe raspberry and cherry pie flavors mark this wine. Oak brings even greater richness, in the form of buttered cinnamon toast. The finish is dry, and there’s a good burst of acidity. The alcohol is a little hot, but still, it’s a nice, silky wine for drinking now.
