Palazzone Sangiovese Blend Orviéto Rubbio 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

It is a lively, intense wine with a deep ruby-red colour. Its fragrance is uncompromising and the nose is that of a light-hearted bouquet. The acidity and tannins associated with red wine are nicely matched with a with a good body from the fruit. Rubbio is a wine to drink with robust dishes - porchetta, casseroles of rabbit or hare, and vegetable dishes cooked in olive oil with herbs.

Il Palazzone is extremely small, making under 1.000 cases of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG with the utmost focus on quality. The vineyards are located in three different subzones of Montalcino, thereby bringing to each bottle different aspects of Montalcino's renowned terroir. Agricoltura responsabile and precision viticulture in the vineyards mean low yields, healthy fruit and farming without the use of chemical pesticides.  Grapes are hand picked at harvest and the estate has been fermenting in wood since the 2011 vintage. All Brunellos spend over 40 months aging in large Slavonian oak barrels, and the wines are marked by distinct balance, elegance and austerity.    Read less

Bright, ruby red with loads of juicy strawberry, red cherry and subtle herbs. Fruity, medium bodied wine that taste like fresh-picked berries. From Umbria, where zesty reds and hearty cuisine complement each other.

A promising young red, with bright berry and mineral character. Medium-bodied, with firm young tannins and a clean finish. Drink now.
