Palacios Remondo Tempranillo Blend Rioja Herencia Remondo la Montesa 2007
Editorial Reviews for Palacios Remondo Tempranillo Blend Rioja Herencia Remondo la Montesa
Lovely nose with some milk chocolate notes floating under slightly brambly, slightly herbal wild cherry, wild strawberry fruit. There are also nice hints of smoke and almost flint/metallic elements as well. Rather bright on entry with a fair amount of covering flesh here. This is rich and well balanced, rather suave for a Crianza with a lovely core of herb inflected red fruit on the palate. The finish shows brighter fruit, more strawberry with some vanilla, tight if small tannins and lingering acidity. A pretty nice wine, not terribly complex but it feels rather expensive in the mouth. 87pts
French oak on the nose; very gentle. Cherry too. Tobacco and mild leather on the palette. Good balanced acidity. Very quaffable.
Not that good
I have to give it to this wine,Amazing oak aroma, very good low acidity finish.
Beyond the label, sexy and intriguing, under the cork, firm and tight yet yielding, lies this charming wine , that if you give it a couple of mnutes of deep thought will seduce you, take you home and rob you. It has ripe and fragrant fruits and a dark spicy undercurrent, a nose of tar and roses. The palate is supple but structured. I now find myself on a cold footpath, I think it is Thursday morning, I'm holding my undone pants up with my right hand, my shirt is untucked, a cold footpath on a street I'm not familiar with holds my feet from the fire of the Earth's mantle, and in my left hand I'm holding the my only clue. A fresh young cork, one end stained the grape colour of a bubbleugum wrapper. If I still had my wallet I'd go and find another bottle and see if I couldn't remember her name this time. 43/43. Cellar for as long as it takes to drink it.

James Suckling: 90pts - Winemaker Notes - Named after the hillside vineyard located on the northeastern slope of the Yergamountains in eastern Rioja, La Montesais a blend of the red grape varieties that grow organically on the Palacios Remondoestate. Rubyred in colorwith an amaranthine halo, renowned winemaker Alvaro Palacios describes this wine as containing complex aromas of syrup-covered cherries, fresh nectarines, quince paste and delicate notes of wood, white pepper and flint. On the palate the wine is unctuous and voluminous with soft tannins that are presented over a foundation of mixed berries, hints of white pepper, blood oranges and dark chocolate. Meant to enjoy now or age up to 10 years, this wine is very versatile and pairs well with almost any type of cuisine.
This medium-bodied red has enticing berry, cherry, spice and smoky aromas. The round, tart cherry fruit is light, and the wine has a long, easy finish. It's an outstanding transitional red perfect for the change of seasons. This medium-bodied red has enticing berry, cherry, spice and smoky aromas.
