What to Expect

Grenache is the main grape in many Rhone blends and most Cotes du Rhone and Chateaunuef-du-pape. It's a grape that yields soft, lightly colored yet full wines endowed with deep notes of strawberry and raspberry. While not prone to producing particularly rich or complex wines in France, Grenache is one of the world's most widely-planted grapes, producing unique expression where ever it is planted. Winemakers Notes

Pala's roots go deep into the land of Sardinia. It was in Serdiana that Salvatore Pala began this extraordinary adventure in 1950: an adventure which he continues today, even after handing the reins over to his son Mario. A fresh young wine with good intensity, showing crisp, clean notes of apple, pear, citrus and herbs. Pala has gradually passed from bulk quantities, destined above all to other bottling companies, to now being a modern concern that stands out for the sheer quality of its products. Its wines are the fruit of vineyards that are cultivated in line with traditions but always read more...with a modern outlook. This Cannonau is an intense ruby red colour with violet threads, and very clear. There is a very intense perfume, with fresh and with evocations of mature red fruits and vegetables. Serve this with starters of mixed sausages, salamis etc. and plates of spicy food, white and red meats, and cheeses. Serve at 16/18° C. Uncork the bottle at least 30 min. before decanting.    (hide)
